Posted: July 6, 2007 The official groundbreaking ceremony occurred June 20, 2007, on the campus of the Among the Gold Shovel honorees present for the groundbreaking were Mr. R. Matthew Kittle, Superintendent of OIEP schools (third from left), and Mr. Daniel B. Gardner, Principal, Burlington Center (fourth from left). Mr. Kittle spoke of the many things that can be done when organizations serving the needs of children work together. “Our power is limitless, and we are building this gym not only for those who are going to use it now, but also for those who come behind us,” said Kittle. The major portion of the new structure will be a gymnasium with a full-sized basketball court. The second phase of construction will be an academic wing to adjoin this new building.
