The KidStrong Conference will be at the Charleston Civic Center on June 11 - 12, 2013. Registration deadline is Monday, June 3, 2013. An agenda for this event will be available soon.
There is no registration cost for School Nurses, Health & Physical Education Teachers, Alternative Education Teachers, School Counselors, Mental Health Professionals working in public schools, School Administrators, Pupil Services Personnel, Head Start Nurses, Public Health Specialists working with youth and Wellness Coaches who are, part-time/full-time public school employees and School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Staff; they are covered through grant funding. A short-term substitute, community healthcare providers and community organizations may attend at a cost of $100.00 for both days — meals included (lunch & breaks). This conference will provide up to 16 nursing contact hours at no cost. Graduate credit from Concord University may be obtained through daily conference attendance and implementation of a simple project as defined upon registration. The Concord University graduate credit registration form will be available at the registration table on-site during the day of the conference. Payments must be received by check or credit card (NO CASH) on June 11, 2013, for a cost of $99.00. This course may be used for renewal of your teaching certificate and for advance salary classification. It may not be used to meet requirements for a graduate degree at Concord University and is not acceptable for renewal of a teaching permit.
Full and part-time public school employees and SBHC staff may receive overnight accommodations at the Charleston Marriott for June 10 if traveling 100 miles or more and/or June 11 if traveling 50 miles or more. The WVDE and Marshall University School Health Technical Assistance Center will cover rooming costs. We have two hotels available, the rooms are on a first come, first serve basis. You must call and reserve your room with a credit card before the cut-off dates; however, you are responsible for canceling your room if you cannot attend. Failure to cancel your room will result in the billing of your credit card for the room. Rooms will be double occupancy. Please inform the hotel at the time of your reservation with your roommate's name. If not, a roommate will be assigned by the hotel; also, if you plan on attending the post conference let them know that you will be staying on June 12, 2013 as well.

These are the only hotels the WVDE Office of Healthy Schools has a direct contract to provide lodging for this event. Lodging at other hotels will be on your own. |
The regulation of the temperature in a large facility like the Civic Center is beyond our control. Please dress in layers so you can adapt to the variable temperature of each conference room throughout the Civic Center.
