JIM PARKER

Jim ParkerPicture Jim Parker is this week's Department of Education's featured employee. Jim, who is a coordinator with the Office of Special Education, has been with the Department for four years. A portion of Jim's duties include performing on-site monitoring in schools, ensuring schools are in compliance with state and federal guidelines. He also is a member of the Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury Board, as well as a member of the Autism Training Center Advisory Board. Jim also serves as the office liaison with RESA V special education representatives.

Raised in West Newton, Pa., Jim graduated from West Newton High School. After graduating from high school, he went on to earn his bachelor of science degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from college, Jim moved to Madison, where he currently resides, and received his master of arts degree in special education from West Virginia College of Graduate Studies.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys traveling to the beach, swimming, gardening and attending West Virginia University athletic events. He is the proud father of two children, Jamie, who currently serves in the United States Air Force in Delaware, and Amy, who will graduate from West Virginia University's School of Medicine in May.
