Evaluating Educational Technology In October, 2003, the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) awarded $15 million in evaluation grants to conduct scientifically-based evaluations of how technology impacts student achievement in elementary and secondary education. West Virginia was the only state to receive two evaluation grants. This site reflects the work of two of the ten awarded grants known as ESETP grantees ( Evaluating State Educational Technology Programs) . West Virginia thanks the US Department of Education, project researchers, the panel of researchers who provided guidance for the projects, the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), the educators and the students who made the projects and results possible.
