What's Happening in West Virginia?Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 Page 11 Page 12 ![]() ![]() I have attached a few pictures of my students engaged in digital learning for Digital Learning Day. It also happens to be the 100th day of school for these 3rd graders at Beckley Elementary, so I integrated the two occasions into my math instruction. Today in Math, we learned about representing numbers in different ways, using multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. For example, the number 2 can be represented as 1+1; 2 x 1; 12-10; 24/12; etc. As part of digital learning day/ the 100th day of school, my students used Microsoft Office Word, along with Word Art to represent the number 100 in various ways. They really enjoyed this project, and it was a great day for me to think outside the box, and integrate a technological component into my instruction. Thank you!

My classes are studying about Government and Elections. My students'
task today was using a graphic organizer and a computer find out
information on this year's races for Governor. Given a list of 11
states, students will find out who the current governors are, and if
said governor is running for re-election. As well they will find out
for all 50 states how many are Democrats, Republicans, or
Independents, and how many states will be electing governors this
year. Tammi Gregory, 7th grade Social Studies, Summersville Middle ![]() ![]() Please find attached two pics of the Biology interactive my students did. They went to phschool.com and entered a web code for DNA Replication. Students watched a brief animation/tutorial on DNA Replication and then had to mimic the process by building a DNA strand on the screen. Blog: i found infinity Randy Revels

I teach in Ohio County at Warwood School (k-8) I teach sixth grade and eight grade social studies.
In sixth grade we are working on reviewing the United States and capitals to introduce ancient cultures of North America. We used an animanics video (this can be found on http://teachertube.com )to review and the following website http://www.kidsgeo.com/geography-games/usa-capitals-map-game.php We used netbooks and an interactive whiteboard for the demonstrations. Students used the resources to fill in maps and to practice skills.
In eighth grade we just began the Civil War. I used the West Virginia Encyclopedia video and audio clips to discuss the impact John Brown had on western VA and the entire country with attacking the federal arsenal in Harpers Ferry. Students will continue with this topic to create and obituary for John Brown on netbooks integrating pictures and words to describe the impact his life had on history and the Civil War.
