We pitched our pencils and threw up the worksheets. We had a day of digital! No pencils and no worksheets.

I have attached 4 pictures of my first grade students at Hedgesville Elementary in Berkeley County working with technology. Students are using gamegoo and the ELMO during centers. A boy is using the mimio pen to conduct a morning message and a girl is pointing to Hedgesville Elementary using Google Earth.

Digital Learning Day 2012~At Spring Mills Primary School, in Berkeley County we celebrated the first Digital Learning Day by having our virtual Lab occupied none stop. I enjoyed creating a paperless ABC book with Mrs. Flynn’s Kindergarten class. The students each created one PowerPoint side including clipart, text, and word art. The title of their book is “Out of the World ABC Soup.” The finished book is going to be posted online for other kindergarteners to “check out.” Second graders visited aglogster.edu site I created for them to practice time. Our Librarian, Mrs. Fleming, brought students into the lab to teach them how to locate books in our school library using the online catalog. This site can also be accessed by students and parents at home. Spring Mills Primary is a new “green” school and has been equipped with SMART boards in every classroom. Teachers throughout the building utilized the boards daily. Here are a couple of pictures of students using the bo
ards as a station with help from their teachers Mrs. Boswell and Mr. Shaffer.
