Career Cruising is a web-based career exploration and planning system that helps students plan their futures. Students can use assessment tools to determine which career is the best fit for them, then explore detailed occupation profiles and examine comprehensive post-secondary education information. Students can move seamlessly through the career exploration and planning process, while building a comprehensive portfolio. At the same time, counselors and advisors have access to the real-time student information and statistics needed to track and assist students' with their progress and achievement. Students or schools may request free trials: http://www.careercruising.com/Public/Proschtrial.aspx
West Virginia 21st Century HSTW sites were given a free, one-year site license to pilot Career Cruising and use it in conjunction with the LINKS Student Advisement Program. In order to facilitate easy use of Career Cruising with LINKS, CC developed a recommended sequence of activities that have also been integrated with LINKS lessons. These activities are also noted as 'extension activities' on the individual LINKS lesson plans. During LINKS advisement sessions most students will not have access to a computer, so these instructions allow students to easily complete on their own and advisors can track each studentís progress. These activities may also be delivered as 'stand alone' activities.
