ACT is best known the American College Test college entrance exam which most colleges in WV require.  They also produce and provide resources for the ACT EXPLORE (taken in 8th grade) and the ACT PLAN (taken in 10th grade).  This website provides a wealth of resources for counselors, students, parents and teachers to assist with academic and career planning. Career Cruising is a web-based career exploration and planning system that helps students plan their futures. Students can use assessment tools to determine which career is the best fit for them, then explore detailed occupation profiles and examine comprehensive post-secondary education information. Students can move seamlessly through the career exploration and planning process, while building a comprehensive portfolio. At the same time, counselors and advisors have access to the real-time student information and statistics needed to track and assist students' with their progress and achievement. College Board
The College Board site connects students, counselors, parents and teachers to colleges and opportunities such as planning for college, taking the tests (SAT and others), Finding the right college, Getting into college, and Financial Aid.

College Foundation of West Virginia Web Portal - provides free career and college planning information for all West Virginians.

WV Programs of Study: The following links provide information to assist students in completing their ISTP Plans, including:

  • career and technical clusters and concentrations available in West Virginia
  • specific courses related to each concentration
  • occupations and industry certifications available
  • post-secondary choices for skilled and professional pathways

Affordable Schools Online. This project is a comprehensive and informative resource that allows students to search for colleges and their respective tuition. With today's financial crisis, student's need a resource that helps them search for colleges by cost. Check this site out. It allows students to shop by tuition using a variery of search options including major, location and degree type. This information is very valuable to today's students who are not only dealing with a more competitive higher Ed environment, but also with the rising costs associated with them.

CFWV - College Foundation of West Virginia Web Portal - provides free college planning information for all West Virginians.

Hobson’s College View. Hobson’s offers online college search, campus events, books and articles, financial aid and scholarship information, career planning tools, and services for counselors.

Peterson’s College Guide. The developers of the well-known college guide have provided website services for guidance counselors, students, parents, and admissions officers.

Think College Early. The U.S. Department of Education initiative of college counseling for middle school age students is supported by a web site full of ideas, information, planning tools, and resources.
