Golden Porridge

Ingredients

Old-fashioned rolled oats1 cup2 cup4 cup
Milk, 1% (low-fat) fat free2 cups4 cups8 cups
Ground cinnamon0.5 Tbsp1 Tbsp2 Tbsp
Vanilla extract1 tsp2 tsp4 tsp
Brown sugar2 tsp4 tsp8 tsp
Walnuts (optional)1 cup2 cup4 cup

Directions

  1. 1. In a large saucepan, bring milk to a boil.
  2. 2. Combine oats and cinnamon. Mix into milk. Return to a boil.
  3. 3. Reduce heat and simmer for 6 to 10 minutes or until mixture has thickened.
  4. 4. Remove from heat and mix in brown sugar, vanilla and walnuts (optional).

Oatmeal can be made using water or milk. Add more or less depending on the thickness your child likes. For added nutrition, add berries or raisins.
