Nestled in the Appalachian foothills of the Ohio River Valley, Cedar Lakes Conference Center began with a vision for the education of young people.
In 1950, 230 acres, known as the Easter Farms, were donated by the people of Jackson County to the West Virginia Board of Education for the establishment of a camp for the Future Farmers and Future Homemakers of America. The group firmly believed that this land near Ripley, West Virginia would provide an ideal setting for educational retreats and nature experiences. As the Conference Center flourished, additional acreage was purchased to accommodate its growth and addition of new cabins, meeting facilities and recreational sites.
What started as an FFA/FHA Camp with four cabins and four auxiliary buildings has grown into a Conference Center composed of a large variety of guest lodging styles with indoor meeting spaces. Cedar Lakes Conference Center provides year-round facilities in a natural setting that enhances any type of program - educational, inspirational, or recreational. As
we have passed our 50th anniversary, Cedar Lakes Conference Center continues to grow and excel. The most recent addition to the complex is Holt Lodge, a 48-room hotel, dedicated in October 1996. Its comfortable rooms and warm lobby provide yet another housing option for guests who come to learn, play, relax, and renew.
Whether enjoying an afternoon picnic, attending camp or participating in a corporate meeting or retreat, an estimated 500,000 people visit Cedar Lakes each year. It is truly a versatile facility, adaptable to individual and group needs. The magnificent scenery and relaxed atmosphere offer a new perspective and eliminate the distractions of urban sites to allow total concentration on the tasks at hand.
