Tina H. Combs was appointed to the state Board of Education in January 2013 by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin to fill an unexpired term that ends Nov. 1, 2016. She replaced Jenny Phillips, who resigned.
Combs brings business and workforce development experience to the state board as the president and CEO of the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce. She also has served as chairwoman of the Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors and as treasurer of the Berkeley County Business Education Partnership. She also served as president of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Executives and was chairwoman of the Region VII Workforce Investment Board.
She earned a bachelor's degree in organization leadership and development from Mountain State University, as well as certificates in community economic development from Virginia Institute for Economic Development at Virginia Tech and in non-profit management from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Combs lives in Bunker Hill. Combs and her husband Vernon have two sons, Justin and Ross.
