MINUTES WEST VIRGINIA BOARD OF EDUCATION

January 14, 2004

I.   Call to Order

President Sandra M. Chapman called the regular meeting of the West Virginia Board of Education to order at 2:30 p.m. on January 14, 2004, in Capitol Building 1, Room 434-M, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, West Virginia.

The following members were present: President Chapman, Vice-President Barbara N. Fish, Delores W. Cook, Priscilla M. Haden, Burma Hatfield, Lowell E. Johnson, Paul J. Morris, Ronald B. Spencer and ex officios David Stewart, State Superintendent of Schools, and J. Michael Mullen, Chancellor, the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.  Member absent was: Sheila M. Hamilton.

II. Approval of Agenda

Upon motion by Mrs. Fish, seconded by Ms. Haden, the Board unanimously approved the agenda as presented.

III. Joint Meetings with Members of the 2004 West Virginia Legislature

     The Board met with members of the House Education Committee to discuss state education issues and concerns.  Also participating in the joint meeting was the Senate Education Committee Chairman.

IV. Future Meetings

 

The next regular meeting of the Board will be held January 15, 2004, in the Board Conference Room, Capitol Building 6, Room 353, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, West Virginia.

V.      Adjournment

Upon motion by Mrs. Fish, seconded by Mr. Spencer, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned at 4:04 p.m.
