I.

Call to Order



President Cleo P. Mathews, via teleconference, called the emergency meeting of the West Virginia Board of Education to order at 8:03 p.m. on March 21, 2000, in the Board Conference Room, Capitol Building 6, Room 353, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, West Virginia. Members present, via teleconference, were Vice-President Gary G. White, Secretary J. D. Morris, Sandra M. Chapman, James J. MacCallum, Jim L. McKnight, Paul J. Morris and Ronald B. Spencer. Also in attendance were Michael J. Farrell, Esq. (via teleconference) and Superintendent David L. Stewart.



II.

Executive Session



Following the call to order, upon motion by Jim L. McKnight, second by Paul J. Morris, the Board, by unanimous affirmative vote, and in accordance with the provisions of W.Va. Code 6-9A-4, 6-9A-3 and 6-9A-5, went into Executive Session to confer with counsel regarding Tomblin v. Gainer. Upon return from Executive Session, President Mathews reported that there were no deliberations and no decisions were made and no action was taken.





III.

Adjournment



Upon motion by James J. MacCallum, second by J. D. Morris, the Board adjourned at approximately 9:00 p.m.
