Component Two: Computer Skills
(Online Component)
Basic computer skills
are taught in this section. The two programs that are used
are MicroSoft Word and MicroSoft Excel. In MS Word, you will
learn to create a new file, enter text, save, and print a file.
You will learn how to create a cover letter, resume, and thank you
letter. In MSExcel, you will learn to enter data, save and
open workbooks, print workbooks, format spreadsheets, and create
charts and graphs.
Component Three:
Work Keys (Completed at Your Workforce
WV Center)
After you complete
all of the components of Hit the Ground Running, you will take a
nationally-recognized employment test called "Work Keys."
More and more employers are beginning to use this test as a screening
tool for hiring new employees or job promotion. In preparation
for the three sections of this test, Reading for Information, Locating
Information, and Applied Mathematics, you will receive study materials
from your local Work4WV Center.
