the Ground Running Online!
Hit the Ground Running
Online is a program developed by the West Virginia State Department
of Education, the West Virginia Workplace Education Program, and
the Regional Education Service Agency V (RESA V.). The purpose of
this online program is to help individuals learn or refresh those
skills most requested by employers in the Region 4 Workforce Investment
Area.
This program contains
many skills which will help you gain employment or help create a
better environment at your current place of employment. The skills
discussed include Time Management, Teamwork, Problem Solving, Dealing
with Difficult Situations, How to Create a Resume, Interviewing
Skills, Computer Literacy, as well as many others. Participants
in this program are also tested using the nationally developed WorkKeys
Assessment, a test being used by more and more employers for hiring
and promotion purposes. A Ready to Work Certificate,
Certificate
of Achievement or Certificate of Participation
will be earned by all participants who complete the
program.
If you'd like to
learn more about this program, click on Course
Description. Then, if you'd like
to enroll, contact your local Workforce WV Center. The case managers
will help you determine if you qualify for the program. There is
a link to all Workforce
WV Centers in the Region 4 Workforce
Investment Area located on the Employment Partners page. You can
reach this page using the link at the top of this page.
The online program,
Hit the Ground Running, consists of three major components:
Workplace Skills, Computer Skills, and Work Keys.
As you progress through each component, an online instructor will
communicate with you via email and assist you with any questions
or problems that arise. You may choose to work on one component
at a time until it is completed or work in multiple components at
the same time. For example, you may work on one of the Workplace
Skills topics and Computer Skills at the same time.
You should know, however,
that online learning is not right for everyone. It requires
a lot of self discipline and strong organizational skills.
